Classroom Organisation

An organised space for group, dynamic and practical activities. It's also important for the space to have comfortable tables and chairs that can be adjusted to the age group of the students, including those with special educational needs. Finally, a variety of artistic materials, such as coloured pencils, pens, paints, paper/cardboard, magazines and more.

Description

Lesson 1 (50 min)
Motivation and framing of the topic
- Presentation of the theme ‘Popular marches’ by watching videos or images using immersive reality glasses.
- Guided discussion (‘What do popular marches mean?’; ‘What colours and symbols usually appear in marches?’; ‘Have you ever seen balloons or bows at popular festivals?’; among other topics related to the theme to be explored)
Planning the balloon project
- Draw a sketch of your balloon on an A4 sheet of horse paper.
- Select colours, decorative shapes and possible messages (e.g. "Viva Santo António!").

Lesson 2 (50 mins)
Construction.
- Construction and illustration of the balloon with different types of materials.
Sharing and reflection:
- Individual presentation of the balloons to the class.

Additional Information

- Final exhibition in the school grounds during the month of “Santos Populares”.
- Articulation with the subject areas of Music Education (popular songs) and Portuguese (oral traditions).

- Individualised support for students with special educational needs;
