Expected Learning Outcomes
Aim: To raise awareness of the cultural, historical, and social significance of Día de Andalucía while developing students’ English reading, speaking, and vocabulary skills.
Objectives:
● Identify the origin, symbols, and traditions of Andalucía Day
● Understand and use key vocabulary related to Andalusian culture (flag, provinces, olive oil, referendum, etc.)
● Answer comprehension questions and complete tasks using information from a text
● Interact in pairs and groups through debate, bingo, and creative activities
● Express personal opinions about the importance of regional celebrations
● Foster a sense of cultural pride and identity while practicing English
Student knowledge
● Students know Andalucía Day from everyday life but may not know its historical background or the symbolism of the flag and coat of arms
● Students have basic English skills (A2–B1) and can work with short texts and interactive games
● Many are motivated to see local culture presented in English
Classroom Organisation
● Organization: Whole class, pair work, small groups, individual activities
● Infrastructure: Standard classroom with projector/blackboard, printed worksheets, large classroom map of Andalusia, scissors/colours for creative task

Session 1 (60 minutes) – Worksheet #1
1. Warm-up (Word Cloud): Brainstorm ideas from key words (5 min)
2. Reading Activity: Silent reading + Reading Race in pairs to underline examples (15 min)
3. Quiz Challenge: Groups answer comprehension questions (10 min)
4. Vocabulary Crossword: Students complete individually, then check in pairs (15 min)
5. Mini Debate: Pairs share one reason for/against celebrating regional holidays (10 min)
Closure: Students reflect orally on one new thing they learned
Session 2 (60 minutes) – Worksheet #2
1. Bingo Game: Whole class activity with 4 cards, using teacher definitions (15 min)
2. Map Hunt: In pairs, students match provinces with cultural products (15 min)
3. Creative Task: Groups design a new Andalusian flag or symbol and present it (20 min)
4. Reflection Journal: Students write individually about what they learned and what surprised them (10 min)
Closure: Volunteers read reflections aloud
Additional Information
● Mixed-ability groups: Stronger students support weaker peers in group tasks (Quiz, Bingo, Creative Task)
● Scaffolding: Use visuals (flag, map, coat of arms) and cognates to support comprehension
